Austin Engle (Margaret2, John1) was born in Royalton, Ohio, August 8, 1827. He and his sister Laura were twins. His early life was spent in Royalton. When about 22 years old he was seized with "the gold fever" and went to California where he remained until 1860. He returned to his boyhood home where he was married May 10, 1860, to Miss Cordelia Swift.
He returned to California and engaged in gold mining until 1866. He came to Cleveland and with a partner carried on the grocery business under the firm name of Engle and Dempcy. After a few years they sold their grocery and went into the lime business. Some time later Mr. Dempcy withdrew from the firm and Mr. Billing became a member of the firm. The firm of Engle and Billings failed in 1875.
Mr. Engle thought he knew of a mining claim in California that had not been worked out and so went there to try to retrieve his fortune. He died there July 27, 1881, and his body was buried in the cemetery at Igo, Shasta County, Cal.
The following obituary was published in a Shasta County paper:
In Shasta, last Saturday morning, Austin Engle passed from the troubles of this life to that mysterious realm to which myriads have gone before, and from whence no message has ever been sent back to mankind surviving on this planet.
Austin Engle was born at Royalton, Ohio, and at the time of his death was nearly 54 years of age. In 1852 he arrived in California and settled at Horsetown; from there he went to the cotton wood country and finally engaged in commercial business at Roaring River where he remained until 1866. Having accumulated about $20,000, he returned to his native state and there engaged in business speculations which resulted disastrously from a financial point of view. Returning to California about four years ago, he has since been engaged in mining and prospecting until his health failed entirely, and now the clouds of the Golden State hide him from mortal vision forever. The deceased leaves a wife and four children in Cleveland, Ohio, and many relatives there and here to mourn his death.
Mr. Engle was a member of the Franklin Avenue Church of Christ of Cleveland. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and of the Knights of Pythias.
His wife, Mary Cornelia Swift, was born at Royalton, Ohio, December 28, 1839. She was the daughter of William and Mary B. Payne Swift. Mrs. Engle died in Cleveland, March 20, 1895.

Albert DeHaven was born in Igo, Cal. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, when he was two years old. He attended school until he was 14 years old when he went to work. He died just two months before he was sixteen.

Marion and Marietta (Austin3, Margaret2, John1)were born August 4, 1862, in Igo, Shasta County, Cal. Their father came in 1866 with his family to Cleveland, Ohio, and their home has since been in that city. They graduated from the public schools of Cleveland.
Marion became a milliner. Marietta chose to become a stenographer. They have been engaged in these occupations. Both Marion and Marietta are members of the Euclid Avenue Christian Church. Their sister, Lillian, left two little girls when she died. Marion and Marietta are lovingly caring for them. Marion is now housekeeper for the family while Marietta is employed as a stenographer.

Sonella Jessie Engle (Austin3, Margaret2, John1) was born in Cleveland, Ohio, December 26, 1866. She was educated in the schools of Cleveland. She learned the millinery trade and followed that occupation for some time.
She was married August 31, 1895 to Frank R. Harris of Cleveland. One child, that died in infancy, was born to them.
Their home is in Cleveland.
Lillian Engle Boesch

Lillian Cornelia (Austin3, Margaret2, John1) was the youngest of the children of Austin and Mary Cornelia Engle. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, April 14, 1868. She graduated from the Cleveland schools and taught for a while in the public schools. She belonged to the Euclid Avenue Christian Church.
She became the wife of John F. Boesch of Brooklyn, Ohio, on June 7, 1904.
They resided in South Brooklyn, Ohio. They then made their home in Cleveland. Mrs. Boesch died January 12, 1910, leaving three little ones motherless.
