Anna (James2, John1) was born June 10, 1823, in Dearborn County, Ind. She was married on March 2, 1843 to James Gibbens. He was a soldier in the Union Army in the Civil War and was killed in battle. Mrs. Gibbens died August 25, 1878.

Jane Gibbens, the oldest daughter, and Everett C. Gibbens, the youngest son, never married. They reside on the farm formerly owned by James Shepherd.


Ursula Gibbens Nelson

Ursula (Anna3, James2, John1) was born June 29, 1849, near Aurora, Ind. She married William Nelson, December 19, 1867. Seven children were born to them, three girls and four boys. Two of the children are dead. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson are dead. One son, Dr. William Nelson, is living in St. Louis, Mo.

Sarepta Gibbens (Anna3, James2, John1) was the fifth child of Anna Shepherd and James Gibbens. She was born October 4, 1851, in Dearborn County, Ind. She became the wife of George Graves. They had four children, two of whom are still living. The home of the family was at Madison, Ind.

Shepherd Taylor (Anna3, James2, John1) was born November 24, 1856 near Aurora, Ind. He was united in marriage with Miss Susan E. Smith on August 17, 1879. He is a farmer by occupation. Mr. Gibbens is a member of the M. E. church. His postoffice address is Aurora, Ind.

Vivian May, or May (Shepherd4, Anna3, James2, John1) as she is known among her friends, is the only child of Shepherd T. and Susan E. Gibbens. She is an intelligent, attractive young lady. To her courtesy we are indebted for much of the record of James Shepherd.
