Sarah Shepherd (Sarah2, John1) was the youngest child of John Shepherd. Her birthplace was Laurel Sock, Pa. The date of her birth was July 28, 1805. Her mother died when Sarah was a babe and left her to the care of her oldest sister, Margaret. Her girlhood was spent in Canandaigua, N.Y., to which place the family had moved in 1806.
